Invisalign® straightens your teeth just as effectively as traditional metal braces, but using a modern approach that is best suited for an active and social lifestyle. The clear plastic aligners are virtually invisible, so no one has to know they are there. And unlike traditional braces, they are removable! This makes it possible to brush and floss your teeth without the interference of brackets that can contribute to tooth decay. You can pop these clear braces out to eat and drink whatever you like with no food restrictions.
Most orthodontic problems for young patients are corrected in a single phase of treatment around the ages of 11-13 years old. However, for some specific conditions, early treatment can greatly minimize the complexity of later treatment and correct abnormal jaw positions that can worsen during pubertal growth. Because the jawbone is soft and still growing, a young patient’s smile is particularly receptive to re-alignment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a visit to the orthodontist at age 7 (or earlier if oral or facial irregularities are present).
